The ‘Every Child Matters’ agenda highlights five outcomes, listed below. These outcomes are the Government’s universal ambitions for every child and young person, whatever their background or circumstances.
See below how our organization can help young people to achieve success in all five outcomes.
Stay healthy
Our programmes help young people to develop positive self image. By celebrating emotional and behavioural development we positively affect the psychological well being of the young people we work with.
We aim to promote activity around water, whether as part of a school group or with family or a safely organized experience with friends. We aim to promote the water and coastal environment to develop peoples minds, enable them to be creative and active and to promote an appreciation of the outdoor environment. Exercise is an intrinsic part of every experience we promote, and is combined with development of positive mental wellbeing and attitudes.
We offer an exciting, outdoor, creative alternative to the sometimes sedentary lifestyles of the computer age.
Stay Safe
We hope to facilitate and promote experiences which empower young people with the creativity, knowledge and safety awareness needed to enjoy the coastal environment. Our approach encourages young people to understand boundaries and become risk aware rather than risk averse.
We provide links to appropriate First Aid Training and advice, and all of our staff are trained in Emergency Aid.
We look to promote activities which build self esteem and confidence, empowering young people to make good decisions.
Enjoy & Achieve
Our activities and ideas are designed to be enjoyable, creative, achievable and promote success. People learn best when they are having fun. We actively support the ‘Share the Smile’ campaign, promoted by The Environment Agency and Natural England.
We support the National Curriculum and hope to enable education professionals to make the most of the coastal environment within their planning for specific topics and in a cross curricular approach.
Make a positive contribution
We encourage participation in competitions and activities, and recognize and celebrate appropriately their achievements. We always identify and reward success, whether it is an individual or a group effort.
We aim to offer ideas and opportunities which enable all kinds of young people to understand they can make a positive contribution. We recognize the need to differentiate activities and experiences to meet the diverse needs of all.
Achieve economic wellbeing
We aim to provide a wider experience and appreciation of our coastal and inland water environments, promoting active lifestyles and creative interaction with nature. This journey of discovery encourages young people to focus on a positive future and also to appreciate the things that are necessary, and the skills they might havethat will help them to achieve that future.
We challenge negative attitudes and sedentary behaviours and aim to replace them with positive outlooks and increased health, creativity and wellbeing. Through this approach we are encouraging young people to lay the foundation for stability and success both emotionally, physically and economically.
